West Indies beat India by five wickets, with 10 balls to spare, in the third and final ODI at New Chandigarh on 3 October 2026. India had already won the three-match series 2-1 by taking the first two games, so this was a consolation win for the visitors.

The chase

India made 351, built around KL Rahul's unbeaten 129 and Rohit Sharma's 92, according to Outlook India. West Indies chased it down thanks to Shai Hope, who finished unbeaten and was named player of the match. Reports differ on his final score: Cricket Daily and India TV give 162 not out, while Outlook India has 156.

Outlook also credits Amir Jangoo's 67 and Keemo Paul's 44 with supporting the chase, with Gudakesh Motie adding a quick 21 at the end.

  • India: 351 (KL Rahul 129 not out, Rohit Sharma 92)
  • West Indies: won by five wickets with 10 balls remaining
  • Player of the match: Shai Hope. Player of the series: Shubman Gill (Cricinfo)

Next

The two sides now play a five-match T20I series, which India lead 1-0 after Shreyas Iyer's century in Lucknow. Cricinfo and India TV place the third ODI at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, while one other report names the PCA stadium, so check the official scorecard for the venue name.

In context: chasing 350 or more is a big ask in one-day cricket, which is why the result stood out even though the series was already decided.
