Crash games explained: what the rising multiplier really means

A crash round is a multiplier that climbs until it suddenly stops. Here is how cash-out works, what "100x" means, and why the house edge still applies.

Crash games are among the fastest-growing instant games on online casino lobbies. Winzap describes them as "instant risk and reward" games: a multiplier grows quickly and the player must decide when to cash out before the graph crashes.

How a round works

  1. Before the round starts, a player chooses a stake.
  2. The round begins and a multiplier starts at 1.00x and rises.
  3. The player can cash out at any moment. The payout is the stake times the multiplier at that instant.
  4. At a random point the game "crashes". Anyone who has not cashed out loses the stake.

Each round lasts only a few seconds, so many rounds can be played in a short time. That speed is a reason to set a time limit before starting.

What "100x or more" means

Winzap says players can win "up to 100x or more" with precise timing. A 100x result means the multiplier reached 100.00 before the crash, so a stake of 100 would return 10,000. Such results are rare. The probability of reaching a high multiplier falls as the multiplier rises, which is why the average payout is capped by the game's design.

The house edge is still there

Crash games publish a return-to-player (RTP) figure, often in the high 90s. An RTP of 97% means the game keeps 3% of all stakes on average over a very large number of rounds. Cashing out early or late changes how often you win, but not the long-run edge: a lower cash-out target wins more often for a smaller prize, and a higher one wins rarely for a bigger prize.

  • "Strategies" such as doubling after a loss do not change the edge.
  • A stop-loss limit controls how much you can lose in a session; it does not make the game profitable.
  • Check the provider's published RTP and rules for the specific game.

"Provably fair"

Some crash games use a hash commitment so a player can check after the round that the result was not changed. That shows the round was not altered. It does not show that the odds are good.
